MRWA Water
Training Update
A
Bob Klug, MRWA Training Specialist
As I looked outside at the thermometer this morning and it read 4°, I realized winter is here already!
Seems like not long ago summer was starting and now we are already in to the Christmas season. Summer
fishing and fall hunting have come and gone and people are starting to gear up for the snowmobiling,
snowshoeing, and ice fishing season.
Wow, what a crazy year this has been! This stuff called COVID-19 has really raised havoc on everything
in our lives, including MRWA’s water training calendar. We have had multiple classes either postponed or
cancelled and operations specialists are trying to find ways to obtain credit hours for their water license.
Thanks to our awesome speakers that we have presenting during our training sessions, we have been able
to do some online courses to help fulfill some of the credit hours operation specialists are looking for. If you
have questions because you are short credit hours and your license renewal is nearing, please be sure to
contact Noel Hanson with the Minnesota Department of Health at 651-201-4690.
Minnesota Rural Water Association has been working hard scheduling our training calendar for 2021 and
it should be published in the near future. One big change to our calendar for next year is the dates of
our Annual Conference. We have scheduled it for August 24-26, 2021. Due to the current regulations and
restrictions, it is not feasible to try and host it in March 2021. But, please remember that this training
calendar could change from day to day as we struggle with how many people we can host, mandates that
are in place at the time of the training, and if the host cities are comfortable hosting sessions. We want to
make sure everyone feels safe and that we don’t put anyone at risk. So, please bear with us until COVID-19
is eradicated!
I would like to wish you all a happy holiday season and leave you with one of my favorite quotes that I think
speaks volumes when it comes to training people...
“ “
Tell me and I
forget. Teach me
and I remember.
Involve me and I
learn.
