Dennis White Appointed PeopleService Ambassador to Promote Industry
OMAHA, NE, 07/10/2020: Leading water and wastewater organization PeopleService Inc today announced the appointment
of 40-year industry veteran Dennis White as Ambassador to spearhead recruitment into the industry through working with
High Schools and Community Colleges.
It’s one of three new initiatives from the company, which has been providing water and wastewater management and
operations services across the Midwest for over three decades, to promote the industry among students as an attractive
career choice.
Added to his appointment is the creation of the PeopleService Alan Meyer Memorial Scholarship Program, which awards up
to $6,000 to individual students enrolled in Water Environmental Technical programs across a range of community colleges
in the Midwest. The scholarship has been named in memory of PeopleService Founder Alan Meyer who passed away earlier
this year.
PeopleService has also begun partnering with Rural Water organizations who have U.S. Department of Labor approved
apprenticeship programs to enroll new hires into.
“I spent over 40 years in the water and wastewater business and couldn’t have had a more varied and rewarding career,”
said Dennis. “Being able to serve the communities where I worked on such a vital resource is something I’m really proud to
have achieved. Now my role is to engage the next generation in this career choice. A little education goes a long way and
I’m great at spreading the word and so far it’s working,” he added. PeopleService awarded the first Scholarship in June to
Des Moines Area Community College student Joshua Greufe.
As part of his commitment to the sector, Dennis has also started a campaign to convince the U.S. Postal Service Stamp
Selection Committee to produce a first stamp dedicated to the water and wastewater industry marking the 50th anniversary
of the Clean Water Act in 2022. He sent a letter accompanied by a petition with over 300 signatures and the Committee
has agreed to review the request.
